The Princess of Afrobeats, Ghana’s Sweetheart and The Phoenix Rising, these are some of the names the media has given to young and talented Ghanaian /South African singer, songwriter and performer Chayuta.
At just 21 years old, Chayuta has managed to make a name for herself in the Ghanaian and South African music scene with back to back releases and collaborations with some of the major players in the African Music Industry. Born to a South African father and a Ghanaian mother, Chayuta spent her formative years between Belgium, Holland, England and South Africa before eventually relocating permanently to her mother’s native Ghana.
Embarking on her music career at the tender age of 9 when her music teacher discovered her talent during a music exam in primary school, young Chayuta managed to convince her mother to allow her to follow her passion and she has not looked back since.
Although her vision for her musical journey has changed over the years; from starting as a classical music student, to discovering the sounds of Afrobeats and Amapiano, Chayuta has now found her own unique sound in Afro R&B but the one thing that hasn’t changed is her passion for everything music and her quest to be a global icon. Chayuta believes that her exposure to various countries and cultures at such a young age has helped her to develop a sound which transcends borders.
Although Chayuta loves being on any stage, her favorite type of performance is with a live band she has worked with most of the established bands in Ghana. Chayuta puts a great deal of effort in perfecting her vocal ability and her stage craft and her audience knows that anytime she mounts the stage they can expect an amazing show.
Her versatility as an artist has given her the opportunity to perform for high profile audiences including presidents and other dignitaries. So deep is Chayuta’s passion for music that she even managed to convince her mother to build a recording and rehearsal studio in their garage when she was just 14 and when in Ghana, she records all of her music in her own studio where she has had the privilege to work with the likes of Mix Master Garzy, Jupitar, Kelvyn Boy, Edem and the legendary D’wayne Wiggins from the Grammy Award Winning R&B Group Toni, Tony Tone.
Chayuta has built an impressive music catalogue over the years and released an EP titled 17 for her 18 th birthday in 2022, which was well received by fans, colleagues and music critics. Since then, she has continued to release singles which showcase her growth as a singer and songwriter.
In 2024, Chayuta decided to reconnect with her South African heritage by spending more time there and connecting with artists and producers and she intends to live between Ghana and South Africa while working on her next immediate projects. Her first South African feature was with award winning artist Aubrey Qwana with whom she released her single Addiction. With the release of her new EP, From the Ashes on 5 th September 2025, Chayuta wants the world to re discover her sound as an Independent Afro R&B Artist who wants to break boundaries a become a role model for especially young female artists across the globe. The EP is a truly African project with collaborations from Phantom from Nigeria, Snaka, DJ Jabs and X Duppy from South Africa; Juma from Zambia, Ghana’s Olivetheboy; and many more. Her undeniable talent, versatility, stage presence and flexibility to jump on any genre makes Chayuta a natural ambassador to take African music to the global stage.
